I am a self-taught Australian artist. I work from my home studio on an equestrian property situated in the tranquil Swan Valley region of the Perth foothills in Western Australia. I paint with a mixture of mediums, mostly oil paints and pastels. My process involves careful attention to detail to bring realism to my main subjects.
I have a special love of painting birds and animals and still life. Depicting birds and animals, whether portraits or wildlife, I strive to be an empathetic intermediary between the subject and the viewer. I seek to capture their living grace, their expression, emotion, and spirit in my portrayals.
In painting my still life work, it is almost an opposite of the emotion I seek to portray when depicting living creatures. In creating works of still life, I endeavor to reveal the hidden, often overlooked, beauty of objects. Captured in a moment of time, I attempt to interpret the simple beauty found in everyday objects in an intimate way, one that invites a pause, a quiet reflection, in the viewer.
Where I see beauty that moves me, living or silent, I endeavor to recreate and express what I see and feel in a way that I hope will resonate with the viewer. I wish for my artwork to bring grace and joy, peace and contemplation, into the homes of those who do me the honor of placing my paintings on their walls.
